I founded Law MJ Kim LLC with the goal of utilizing my extensive experience and knowledge in immigration law to help clients achieve their immigration objectives. Immigration law is personal to me. I was born in South Korea and emigrated to the United States with my family as a young child. I grew up in an immigrant community and saw first-hand the difficulties that immigrants face. As an adult, I went through the naturalization process. I became intrigued with how individuals were able to obtain lawful status in the United States and eventually become a U.S. citizen. I also wanted to find a path in which I was able to help people. This led my decision to pursue a career as an Immigration lawyer. Throughout my career, I have been able to help thousands of clients obtain their green cards, citizenship and other immigration benefits.
I practice exclusively in U.S. Immigration and Nationality law. Before founding Law MJ Kim LLC, I worked at prominent high-volume immigration law firm located in New York City for nearly 10 years where I served as a Partner handling cases involving all aspects of family and employment-based immigration matters and removal defense.
In my practice, I represent employers and individuals applying for non-immigrant (H-1B, O-1, TN, E-2, L-1, R-1, P-1, P-3, B-2 extensions, change of status to F-1) visa petitions, labor certification (PERM) applications and immigrant visa (EB-1 extraordinary ability, EB-2, NIW, Schedule A) petitions.
I represent clients applying for fiancé, spousal and other preference category immigrant petitions, adjustment of status, consular processing, provisional waivers, military parole-in-place, humanitarian reinstatement, humanitarian parole, naturalization, DACA, U-visas, self-petitions under VAWA and waivers of inadmissibility.
I prepare responses to Requests for Evidence, Notices of Intent to Deny / Revoke, motions, and briefs with USCIS, ICE, Immigration Court, Board of Immigration Appeals and Administrative Appeals Office.
I prepare clients for and attend I-485, I-751, N-400, N-336 and Stokes interviews at various USCIS field offices in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and throughout the United States.
I also prepare clients for non-immigrant and immigrant visa interviews at U.S. Embassies and Consulates.
I represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court trying cases involving adjustment of status, cancellation of removal, waivers, 212(c) and renewed I-751 petitions.
I advise clients on the immigration consequences of criminal convictions, fraud / misrepresentation, false claim to US citizenship and other inadmissibility grounds, and prepare appropriate waivers of inadmissibility for filing with USCIS and other appropriate agencies.
